Silver Lake at Home

Coming this July to your home!

Silver Lake is committed to providing an opportunity to encounter God’s love in creation, a chance to be seen and loved for exactly who you are. We deeply value the experience of each individual who comes to camp and want to ensure positive outcomes for all.

We understand how much summer camp at Silver Lake means to you and your family. All of the year-round staff at Silver Lake are lifelong camp people and are committed to continuing to nurture our faith community throughout the summer and beyond.

For 2020, Silver Lake at Home will focus on the four Silver Lake "Loves": Love God; Love Your Neighbor; Love Yourself; and Love Creation. This four-week program has a number of options so that you can customize an experience that is the best fit for your family.

Registration opens June 2. Some options have a small cost attached; some are free. Some options include in-person gatherings; some are self-study programs you can do with your family. Do as much or as little as you like!

Parents, we're here to support you as you guide your camper(s) through their faith exploration this summer. Check out the Parent Resources page!

2020 Summer Cabin Groups, $10

Looking for new friends and a sense of community this summer? Join a cabin group! Cabin groups will be formed of 8-12 campers of similar ages and two counselors. They will meet via Zoom for two half-hour sessions each week for our four weeks of program. If you have purchased the Silver Lake at Home box, the discussion and activities in the cabin group will line up with your self-guided fun. But there is no need to purchase a box to be a part of a cabin group!

Cabin groups will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 7-30. Indicate which time slot is best for you when you register: 10 a.m.; 11 a.m.; 2 p.m.; 3 p.m. We will do our best to honor your first choice. Cabin groups are intended to create friendships and community; please make every attempt to attend all the meetings.

A $10 registration fee is required to join a cabin group. Sign up online.

Fade up on a world turned upside down: We should all be at Silver Lake together, but instead we're stuck at home! Create videos exploring your current reality, feelings, and concerns. Explore social issues while learning technical aspects about telling stories on video. Learn more about God, your neighbor, and yourself through the lens of a camera. This group will meet a few times during the week via Zoom; participants will create and edit their own videos, and then send them to the Deans to be combined into one long conference video to be shared with the greater Silver Lake community.

This conference will meet via Zoom at 7 p.m. on July 20, 22, and 24. Conferees will need to have access to a device that can record video. A list of suggested free video editing apps will be provided.
