Family Retreats

A time to retreat from the everyday stress of life where you can reflect and be grateful as a family.

Reserve a building - for your family, roommates, household, or yourself - to get away from the routine of your daily life. Unplug from the busy world around you and surround yourself in the beauty of God's creation.

A chance to slow down, craft together, play games together, explore how the Spirit is moving in your life, share some scripture, pray together, and listen anew for God calling in your midst.

Relax. Reconnect with loved ones. Retreat to Silver Lake.

Vaccine Requirement

Silver Lake requires all guests to our site and participants at our in-person events to be fully vaccinated (2+ weeks from final dose) against Covid-19. Those who are not able to be vaccinated due to a medical condition or due to age may show proof of a negative PCR test taken not more than 3 days before the event.

As a ministry of the Southern New England Conference, United Church of Christ (SNE UCC), Silver Lake adheres to all the policies put in place by the Conference.

Read the SNE UCC Covid Policies for Guests and Vendors - updated March 8, 2022.

Your Retreat Experience

Our staff is dedicated to ensuring your retreat experience is fulfilling. Our Retreat and Finance Manager is available to your group from your first inquiry and throughout your retreat and can help with planning and organizing.

Our Executive Director and Site Manager live on site and are on call for emergencies twenty-four hours a day.

Food Service

Preparing your own meals

Our Family Retreat buildings have full kitchens for you to use to prepare your meals during your stay. Food, dishes, utensils, etc. have been removed from the buildings. You will need to use all food service items you brought with you.

Silver Lake preparing your meals

Silver Lake staff will prepare your meals and deliver to the building at pre-arranged times. All necessary dishware and utensils will be provided with the meal delivery.

Health and Safety

Silver Lake staff is doing everything we can to keep the environment clean and safe
whether we have guests on site or not. Silver Lake is following CDC guidelines for cleaning
and disinfecting.

Silver Lake staff will not enter a guest building for cleaning or other reasons. In the event of an emergency, staff will respond appropriately and safely.

The Northwest Corner of Connecticut is actively working to combat the spread of COVID-19 and keep everyone safe.  We invite you to bring everything you need for your retreat (food, dishes, games, outdoor activities, etc.) and to stay at Silver Lake for the duration of your retreat. If you do leave site during your stay, please be diligent in your personal hygiene and preventative measures (wearing a mask, washing hands, hand sanitizer, social distancing, etc.)

Visit our Facilities page for an in-depth look at all of the indoor and outdoor spaces we have available.

At Silver Lake, we believe an important part of the retreat experience is spending time in nature. Bring your own equipment and enjoy our outdoor basketball court, or try your hand at disc golf, with a nine-hole course that winds its way through the upper portion of camp. Several open fields lend themselves to a variety of games, including kickball. Bring your sleds and snow sculpting plans when the forecast calls for snow.
