Thank you, Kent!

Members of the Historic Connecticut Conference, UCC staff participate in teambuilding activities at Silver Lake.

On behalf of the SLCC Board of Directors, I write to express our deepest gratitude for your decades of unwavering, passionate support of the life-changing outdoor ministry of Silver Lake. We all have been blessed through your powerful witness about the importance of Silver Lake in your own life, from early years as a camper through your work as a counselor and dean and eventually our ultimate Conference Minister.

As a member of the Search Committee that recommended you as CT’s Conference Minister, it was a true joy to hear your Silver Lake stories. Whether you were sharing memories of your foot locker as a new camper or speaking passionately from your position as a national church leader, your love for Silver Lake has always been evident.

Most recently, as our Conference Minister, you prioritized and promoted SLCC in a way that undoubtedly helped to ensure the vitality of this critical ministry. On a personal note, I always found it comforting to walk around the corner of the Social Hall, as I made my way to a deans’ meeting, to see you waiting at the table, listening attentively to the stories of the day. You were likely needed in at least a dozen other settings, most of them hours away, but you had chosen to show up at Silver Lake – another declaration of your understanding of the value of this ministry.

You have consistently stood up as a powerful ally of the Board of Directors and, most importantly, a stalwart champion of Silver Lake. As we have weathered this latest season of transition and some uncertainty, you have continued to serve as a calming voice guiding us forward with faith.

For all that you have done and been in support of Silver Lake and of our work as the Board of Directors, we are grateful beyond words. We wish you all good things in your newest adventure with the national Office of Philanthropy, and we pray that you will be blessed as we know you will be a blessing for the wider church.
