What do you get when you add dozens of golfers, gorgeous weather, a premier banquet venue, great food, Brian Lapis in a white tuxedo jacket, a rousing auction, friends old and new, and the incomparable Val Tutson? You get two stellar fundraising events for Silver Lake in less than two weeks!
We welcomed 71 golfers on a warm sunny day September 21, enjoying an impressive course at the Waterbury Country Club. Some friendly competition was followed by a hearty lunch and raffles. Totals are still coming in, but we know we exceeded our projected profit for Silver Lake. A huge thank you goes out to the planning committee led by Dan Krhla and Cindy Cayer, our sponsors, our golfers, our volunteers, and Silver Lake’s year-round staff.

On October 2, over 100 people met at A Villa Louisa in Bolton, CT to honor Valerie Tutson, winner of the 2020/2021 Silver Lake award. Highlights included two bidding wars over Chef Lynn’s cookie-of-the-month packages, and a song written for Val and sung by Betty Geiling, Whendi Cook Broderick, and their crew. Val’s joy-filled message inspired spontaneous donations to the Silver Lake Scholarship Fund of over $5,000 in just minutes!
We are thrilled to announce that David Peters is the 2022 Silver Lake Award winner, to be celebrated at Farmington Gardens on April 24, 2022.
What an honor it is to be surrounded by people who are committed to the message and the mission of Silver Lake. Silver Laker supporters put their words into action, honoring the past and looking ahead to the future where we can continue to be a place where everyone - young and old - is welcomed and loved completely for exactly who they are.
