Looking Forward: A Word From the Director

I am so excited to be with you at Silver Lake! Silver Lake, as you know, is an incredibly special place, and I am blessed to be a part of it.  

Outdoor Ministry has had a huge impact in my life: It shaped who I am today, influenced my call to ministry, and brought to life my relationship with God. I come to Silver Lake with a passion for church camp and experience from camps from Washington state to Vermont.

With the summer just around the corner, I cannot wait to dive into camp and work with so many wonderful children and youth conferees, young adult staffers, and our volunteer counselors, deans, and chaplains.

I am excited to learn so many of the unique things that make Silver Lake special.  I am looking forward to staff show, the Camp Family last name reveal, Mudge Mountain, Mudge Madness, and so much more.

In addition to learning the traditions of Silver Lake, I am looking forward to creating new traditions and programs, widening the welcome and the reach of Silver Lake. One of the exciting new adventures I am looking forward to for 2017 is “Silver Lake in the City.”  We will take Silver Lake on the road! We will have an offsite conference in Hartford. Rev. Erick and Tina Olsen have already signed up to be our deans for this new venture. It will be an incredible week embedded in the city learning about food justice, while we do all of the fun, friend making, bonding, and beloved camp practices.  

I hope to meet you this summer.  Remember, there is still time to register for a conference and time to sponsor a child to attend this summer and next.
