Heat Wave & Red, White, and Blue Day

7/6/2016

Hopefully you received a very important e-mail from the camp nurse.  We have some hot days coming up and we really want to help protect our campers from the sun!  Today our camp groups spent most of the day in the woods or in the pool.  We want to remind you that sunscreen isn't always enough to protect your child from the sun.  Try to have them wear protective clothing and swim shirts while in the pool.  Here is a copy of the email you should have received today:

We expect the rest of the week to be very hot and sunny! As we enter these dog days of summer your children will spend longer periods of time in the pool to help keep cool. We expect extra long free swim for the next three days. More time in the water means your child is more exposed to UV rays, especially with the reflection from the water. We strongly suggest the use of SPF protective swim shirts for children to wear while swimming. You can purchase a PDC swim shirt here.

We also have some swim shirts in assorted sizes available for purchase in the main office, please contact us directly to check availability.

All children should come to camp with sunscreen already applied at home. Our staff will provide reminders for re-application, especially after swimming and they will assist campers with application as needed. We advise the use of a sunscreen with SPF of at least 15

Remember sunscreen works best when combined with other options for sun protection. We strongly recommend protective clothing during the day to help shield your children from the sun’s rays.

Your child should have brought home this notice today about Red White and Blue Day!

In honor of the 4th of July, our Special Day for this Friday will be Red, White, and Blue Day!  The whole camp will be divided into three teams: red, white, and blue.  Campers will compete and play fun games with each other while representing their team.   Campers should wear their assigned color on Friday, July 8th.

After the morning activities, we will have a regular cookout and sundaes in the afternoon.

Your Child should have brought this notice home with their assigned team.  If not, they will bring it home Thursday!
