Get ready for Silver Lake 2022!
Summer registration has opened, and the response has been fantastic! As we return to our seven 1-week sessions, we again have themed conferences. Kids can choose singing, sports, film, science, drama, hiking, Harry Potter, and everything else under the sun (or is it Son?).
We were thrilled to offer camp in 2021 (with not a single case of COVID, thanks to everyone's diligence). Summer 2021 confirmed for everyone that the Silver Lake experience is critical for so many young people. Over and over again, we heard them sing and shout that they were so excited to be at camp. Their world has been turned upside down - their interpersonal skills are challenged, their faith formation is on the back burner, and their secure foundation has been rocked. Silver Lake provides a place that is safe—both in terms of health and in allowing them to be their best and true selves. They can try new things, make new friends, and stretch their bodies and minds in a welcoming, loving, and inclusive community of faith. Campers blossom at Silver Lake, nourished by the sun and the lake water. Sometimes the growth is subtle. And sometimes a camper arrives as a quiet seed and leaves as an explosion of color.
Register your kids now. Talk to youth you know who would benefit from Silver Lake. Talk to your church about providing scholarship—and remember that campers can also apply to Silver Lake for additional scholarship. Share the brochure and the website link. Silver Lake depends on you to get the word out.
And I just have to add - you might think camp is just for the campers. It's not. It's for everyone. The reason why Silver Lake continues to be a beacon of light is because the adults— young and not-so-young—experience that same transformative power and return year after year. Come be a counselor, a staff member, a volunteer. You will be valued, you will have fun, you will learn more about yourself, you will be exhausted but will not want to leave. You will be transformed, even as you help campers experience God's love.
Ask a Silver Lake adult where their favorite place in the world is. Ask them to tell you a Silver Lake story and watch their eyes light up. Ask them how Silver Lake changed their life.
Summer 2022 will change lives. Come see what the buzz is about.
See you at camp!
