Dear Silver Lake Family,
As you know, camp is not just about canoes and campfires. Camp is about community. Our camp is committed to taking action to ensure equitable access to the magic of our programs regardless of their sex assigned at birth.
In recent days, we’ve watched heartbreaking legislation sweeps across the country, taking aim at the trans* youth in our communities. We would like to be absolutely clear in our messaging - trans* youth are welcome and supported by our camp.
This summer, as a camp, we are committing to the following:
- We commit to continuing to educate ourselves and our community on justice issues that our trans* campers and staff may face.
- We commit to making space for our campers and staff to use the pronouns that make them feel whole.
- We work to ensure that all members of our camp community have access to a sleeping space that is equitable and safe for them, regardless of their sex assigned at birth.
At camp, we honor and support our campers as individuals. We care deeply about the well-being of each camper. If there is anything we can do to further support your child, please let us know.
